Be Not Deceived

Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The Scripture admonishes us that we be not deceived. Here are some of the warnings:
Grace to you.
"Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;" (Deuteronomy 11:16). Moses tells us that God will oppose us of we let our hearts be deceived and turn aside from Him.
"And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am
; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them"
(Luke 21:8). Our Lord Jesus warned His disciples that there would be men who would try to get a following. We should be cautious about always trusting what Bill or Joe or any teacher says, and we should be noble Bereans instead (Acts 17:11).
Paul warns us, "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
"Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners" (1 Corinthians 15:33). Communications have to do with companions, communion, i.e., those whom one associates with - friends. This verse teaches that bad company will corrupt good manners or morals. Remember Proverbs 13:20: "He who walks with wise
be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" (Galatians 6:7). Paul warns us that what we sow is what we shall reap. Have you ever noticed how many of Hollywood's movies try to deceive you into thinking that wrong choices in the beginning will result in good endings? Be not deceived.
"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ" (Colossians 2:8). Finally, Paul tells us that men will try to spoil, take advantage of us through vain deceit. He tells us their deceit will be after the traditions of men, after the elementary principles of the world, and not after Christ.
Let us be not deceived.
