Before He ascended back to the Father, Jesus gives the Church the following charge, found in Matthew 28:19-20 and Mark 16:15: "Go ye therefore, and teach [make disciples of] all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching [instructing] them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
Elkmont Baptist Church
It is our desire here at Elkmont Baptist Church - using the method set forth by the early church in Acts 2:42 - to share the gospel and make disciples by teaching the Word of God in an expository manner. Our goal is to share the gospel (good news) of the love and forgiveness of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to equip His followers to share the gospel with others by helping them become disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in every area of their lives.
The example our Lord has set before us is the Church at Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13) because although they were small in number and strength, they did not deny the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and did not deny His Word - the only source of truth and salvation for sinful man. To that end, we exalt the name of Jesus as we teach a literal interpretation of the Holy Scriptures in the Bible, with an emphasis on the Apostles' Doctrine.
