Beloved: Grace and Peace
Elkmont Baptist Church
Dearest and Beloved
Obtaining God's Love and Peace
Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul tells us, "Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace shall be with you" (2 Corinthians 13:11). It is important in church and in family to be perfect (mature), of good comfort, of one mind, and in peace and God will be with us. We are all to strive for maturity; our church and our homes should be a refuge of comfort. These things happen when we are of one mind (then we are not striving with one another) and working to preserve peace with one another and with God.
Grace to you.
Paul told the Philippian Church and tells us:
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things
honest, whatsoever things
just, whatsoever things
pure, whatsoever things
lovely, whatsoever things
of good report, if
any virtue, and if
any praise, think on these things. Those things,
which ye have both learned, and recieved, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
- Philippians 4:4-9
Paul tells us the things that we are to be and do in order for the God of peace and love to be with us.
Peter reminds us, "And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins" (1 Peter 4:8).
Well, some verses to meditate on - some things to think about.
