Beloved: Grace and Peace
Elkmont Baptist Church
Dearest and Beloved
Power of God's Word
Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. If you will permit me, let me tell you about another testimony. One Tuesday night, about 6:30 p.m. my wife began hurting terribly in her stomach. A first we thought it was food poisoning, but she did not get better after she threw up. I carried her to the emergency room. She was admitted to a regular room about 3:00 a.m. The doctor told us he thought she had a partial or complete blockage of the small intestine.
Grace to you.
The effect of this is pain and nausea. She can't stand being nauseous. The next day (Wednesday), I came home to check on the girls. It was the eighth of September so I read to them Psalms 8; 38; 68; 98; and 128. I was amazed at how much it seemed to apply to my wife and me. I went back to the hospital, and a friend was there with my wife. She was feeling nauseous, and the NG line which was pumping her stomach wasn't working right. It was too early to give her any more medicine for the nausea. My prayers hadn't seemed to work, so I resorted to that which I knew would not fail.
I began reading the Psalms to her out loud (8; 38 (wow!); 68; 98; 128. I read 2 Corinthians 1 and 2 out loud to her. I read Philippians (the book of Christians joy) to her. I began seeing a light return to her eyes. Her NG line began working and our friend continued to minister to her. You know, it was about the time of prayer meeting, and it may have been in answer to the prayers of the people meeting at my church. Thank you so much to them!
What can't fail?
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper
in the thing
whereto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy, and
be led forth with peace: . . .
