Pray for Peace of Those Around You
Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Jeremiah 29:7: "And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace."
Once I was traveling. When I got home, I was scheduled to cover a procedure at work beginning Friday night and going through Tuesday. I have felt for a long time like we at my workplace worked for Nebuchadnezzar (tell us the dream and the interpretation). So I have begun praying for the peace of my workplace because of God's promise that in the peace thereof I will have peace. I have certainly experienced the lack of peace when there was no peace at work. On Thursday, when I got back to work from my trip, I was informed that the procedure was postponed for three weeks. Coincidence? I sure needed peace that weekend.
"And seek the peace of the city whither I have cause you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace" (Jeremiah 29:7). Is there any area of your life in which you are in need of peace? I have been praying for the peace of work, for the peace of my home, for the peace of our education covering, for the peace of my hometown, state, and of the United States of America, and for the peace of Elkmont Baptist Church.
"And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none" (Ezekiel 22:30). May the Lord not be able to say that about the nation we live in. May he find one or more to stand in the gap.
Until He comes, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, and to doctrine.
Grace to you.
