Beloved: Grace and Peace

Dearest and Beloved
Songs and the Spirit
Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace to you.
Most of us have a handle on not being drunk with wine, but how many of us are filled with the Spirit? To be filled with the Spirit is to be under His control, and evidence of that will be our speaking to ourselves in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord, and giving thanks.
The parallel passage is found in Colossians: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord" (Colossians 3:16).
To be filled with the Spirit is to let the word of Christ dwell richly in us. This will be wisdom, and we will teach and admonish one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. This will allow grace to sing in our hearts to the Lord.
Beloved, when we're filled with the Spirit, we will be filled with all joy and peace, because we are believing, and we will abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost (Romans 15:13).
This is part of how we can be renewed in the spirit of our mind (Ephesians 4:23). I cannot tell you all the times I have been troubled, and a psalm or hymn or spiritual song (it must have the truth in it) will begin running in my mind, and that will carry me.
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
- Ephesians 5:18-20
