" (Jeremiah 6:16).
I am slow to learn sometimes, but when I keep getting the same message I do eventually get it. One week I had been working midnight shifts, mostly twelve-hour shifts. And yes, God is faithful. I stayed tired, but I always found strength just as my day demanded. That Monday morning and Tuesday morning I came home with a splitting headache. On Monday, my wife gave me a pain killer and then a garlic poultice. Immediately I started feeling some relief and comfort. On Monday night I had carried some of the pain killer with me, and when the headache started again I took it around 4 a.m. The headache continued to grow, and I was grateful to get home. My wife applied another poultice and the headache subsided. She also had me swallow garlic. I was comforted and went to sleep.
She told me that our daughter hadn't been feeling well and wanted some garlic. She went to our son's home where our daughter was and made some for her. My daughter said that our grandson hadn't slept and was restless. My wife made a garlic poultice and applied it to his feet. I was told that he quieted and was able to sleep.
I hadn't been sure on Monday which worked, the pain killer or the garlic. On Tuesday I knew which worked. "He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;" (Psalm 104:14). Truly God causes the herb to grow for the service of man.
Truly as we stand in the ways and seek the ancient paths, wherein is the good way, and learn to walk therein, we do find rest for our souls.
